Yes a simple recipe yet i want to post it as a record for our kids as they forget it in the fast food world. So i thought of creating a group for greens alone so that all Recipes for Greens be gathered here. This is an easy and simple food . A one day relaxation for our stomach from the spicy food we eat and a quick food .
Baby Spinach – 1 bundle
Tuvar Dal- 1 small cup
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Mustard seed – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Red chilli 2
Oil and Salt
Cut greens and wash it well.
Soak it in water and take the greens and put in another vessel. Do this at least twice. Wash tuvar dal and cook it in the pressure cooker till soft.
Put the greens in a big vessel and add enough water and turmeric powder. Cover it and cook for the last few minutes . Then mash greens and dal with a masher (mathu).
i use this because we can mash it even when it is hot and the taste is also good than grinding in a mixie. If you have time to cool the greens then cool it and blend in a mixie . You will get as smooth mixture. By smashing with a mathu you will get a half coarse mixture. Add salt . Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds, cumin, and red chilli .
Pour it over the Keerai Kadaiyal . You can add a small spoon of ghee with oil . The kadaiyal is ready and can make a full meal as it has enough protein and iron . Gets along with any kaara curry or egg curry .
