Mulai Keerai Milagu Kootal .


This recipe i learnt from my mother and  is liked by my daughter very much . This can be added to rice and eaten or as a side dish.This is a Kerala cuisine and can be done with any vegetables. Except for keerai  for other vegetables , Moong dal can be added . This dish is normally called as Mulagootal.

Spinach – 1 bundle
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Red chilli – 3
Jeera – 1 tsp
Coconut – 1 tbsp
Tuvar dal – 1 cup
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Hing powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt and oil

Method: Wash and cut Keerai . Cook Tuvar dal with enough water and mash it . Fry the urad dal, jeera and red chilly and grind it to a smooth paste along with coconut .


Cook the keerai with turmeric powder and little water .


When it gets cooked add the cooked tuvar dal and the ground paste . Add salt . Temper mustard seeds, urad dal in oil and add to this.
