i borrowed a book from the National Library and followed that method to prepare scones. When we went to Cameron Highlands we came to know scones are famous there . But i taste this only today. A simple recipe and we can enjoy it if we like to taste with any flavor. There are various varieties of scones . This is a basic one.


(makes 12 )

250 g self raising flour

1 tsp Baking powder

2 tsp sugar

3 tbls butter

1 egg

½ cup milk

 Ingredients :

Preheat oven at 220 degrees. Ina large bowl sift flour and baking powder together. Add sugar  and then rub with cold butter with your fingers till the mixture resembles Bread crumbs.

In a small bowl add egg and milk and whisk well . Make well in the center of the flour and add this mixture and mix well till it becomes a soft dough . Turn this on a lightly floured surface and knead lightly.

Press dough into 2 cm thickness with your palm. Cut with a pastry cutter into desired shapes. Rub milk on top on the scones and bake for 15 minutes. When cool , take it from the baking tray.
