Yes the name itself has a mass appeal. Usually in Brahmin households we see this being cooked , but we prefer the roasted one, which takes a lot of time and oil . This suits well with vatha kuzhambu .
Potato – 5 pieces
Green chilli -2
Grated coconut – 2 tbls
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Urad dal -1 tsp
Hing – 1 powder
Curry leaves .
Steam cook potatoes with little turmeric and hing .
When cooked mash it well.
In a non stick pan or kadai add oil .
Add mustard seed, urad dal,hing .
When it splutters add cut onion and green chilli and fry well.
When the onion becomes transparent add the mashed potato .
Add salt and mix well.
Unlike the Roast potato this need not stay for a long time in heat .
Add curry leaves, grated coconut and squeeze lemon juice . Mix well .
After few minutes switch off the flame .
