This recipe is a favourite one for me and i found this in Lakshmiammal’s blog. http://lakshmiammal.wordpress.com/ I like this blog and the blogger as i find a unique taste in her writings and skill . i had tried this earlier and i made it again today with a slight modification . It suits well for Idly/ Dosai. Those who want that non vegetarian or spicy taste can well go ahead and with the richness of pepper we can get a different taste.

Ingredients:

To Grind

Big onion -2
Tomato – 1
Channa dal – ¼ cup
Pepper -1 /2 tsp
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Red Chilli or powder – 3 -4
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric powder -1 /2 tsp
Ginger – ½ inch .

For the gravy.
Potato -1
Soya chunks – 1 cup
Fennel seed s- ½ tsp
Oil
Salt .

Method:

Grind all the ingredients given above to a coarse paste .
Boil water add soya chunks and when they are cooked , remove, squeeze the extra water and cut into small pieces .
Cut potato into small pieces .
Ina kadai add oil , a little more as the ground channa dal will stick.
Add the fennel seeds . When it splutters add the ground paste and fry well in medium flame till the oil comes out .

Add the cut potato and cut soya chunks, 1 cup water and salt .Transfer this to a pressure cooker and cook for 1 whistle.
