Methi Dal.

DSC09895Dal and chapati a simple solution for the dinner and a healthy one . i try to bring variety by adding a lot of vegetables or something or other. Yesterday i incorporated some methi leaves so that children will eat it without much fuss. Surprisingly they ate it without any protest and now for the recipe.

Moongdal -1 cup
Green chill -2
Garlic – 3 cloves
Ginger – a small piece
Methi leaves – a handful
Tomato -1 cup
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Ajwain -1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds -1 /2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Hing – 1/2 tsp
Salt and oil.

In an open pan cook moong dal till soft.

Along with it you can add turmeric powder and hing. Meanwhile cut tomato, onion, Green chilli , ginger and garlic into small pieces.

Wash the methi leaves,separate them from the stalk and keep it aside. In an open add add oil, add mustard seeds, ajwain and cumin and wait till it splutter.

Add the onion, tomato , green chilli, garlic and ginger and saute well. Add the methi leaves too and saute well.

Add the cooked moong dal and salt . Add little water and cover and cook for at least 10 to 15 minutes .

In the end we get a good dal with eye catching methi leaves on the top. Serve with roti or rice.
