Radish and the name itself makes me shrink as i dislike the pungent odour. But my daughter likes it in sambhar so i i do this whenever we get the tender Radish in the market. After marriage on my Hubby’s request i used to make Thuvaiyal with those leaves too. So now the problem about radish is resolved . So i search for recipes to include Radish . Like parathas, curry , raitha one more recipe which attracted me is Masala Kuzhambu which i found in Sharmis passion. As i was damn sure that her recipe will be definitely good i thought of making it and it was a hit in my house. Finger licking good. Now for the recipe.
White Radish -2 (cut into small round pieces)
Red Chilli Powder -1 tsp
Coriander Powder -1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves – 1 tsp
Coconut -1 /2 cup
Fennel seeds -1 tsp
Big Onion -1
Bay Leaf -1
Fennel Seeds -1 Tsp
Small Onion – a handful
Garlic – 4 to 5 flakes
Cinnamon -1 /4 inch piece
Curry Leaves – few
1. Heat oil in a kadai and add , fennel seeds . Then add Onion and fry well. Add tomatoes and fry till it turns mushy.Finally and coconut and give a quick turn.
2. When cool grind this well . You can add little water.
3. In another heavy bottom vessel add oil . When oil becomes hot, add fennel seeds and when it splutters add bayleaf , cinnamon. Then add onion , tomato and fry well. Then finally add White radish and saute well.
4.Add water may be 2 cups to this and add red chilli powder and coriander powder and simmer the gas . When the radish gets cooked add the ground paste and salt and simmer for a while.
5.When it thickens add coriander leaves , check for salt and switch off the stove.
6.Serve hot with rice. Tastes Yummy!
